“Aiutiamoci l’un l’altro e Dio aiuterà noi”
(Padre Santo – San Francesco M. da Camporosso)

In Liguria region there are now 12 fraternities and 19 convents where there is no longer a community of friars.

The first Capuchin Friars arrived in Liguria around 1530 and found hospitality at the “Ospedale degli Incurabili” in Genoa. From the beginning, Capuchins were engaged on two fronts: missionaryand charitable, all during the outbreak of the epidemic plague in 1630, in which they heroically place themselves, both in Genoa and in Liguria, offering help to all the people affected from the disease. Nowdays, chapuchin friars run different soup kitchen where the poors can get food and some other friars are missionaries in county such as Peru and Central Africa.
