The Church and the Capuchin Convent can only be reached by waliking starting from various departure points from Monterosso village. If you are at the tourist port, the convent can be reached via a sloping stepped road called “Zii dei frati” (Giri de frati) which climbs up the slope of the Colle di San Cristoforo and passes in front of the statue of San Francis. The convent can also be reached from the FS railway station by exiting to the left and walking up the hill along the so-called “Passeggiata delle Agavi”. Finally, it can be reached from the small parking lot in the cemetery square via a short path.

Convento Monterosso
  •  By car: A12 Genoa-La Spezia, exit at Carrodano and then continue in the direction of Levanto and then Monterosso. The Cinque Terre panoramic road starting from La Spezia is an alternative touristic route, but definitely longer and more demanding.
  •  By train: this is the most convenient way to arrive and move between the Cinque Terre. Monterosso station is located on the Genoa-La Spezia line and numerous inter-regional and Intercity trains stop there.
  •  By Sea: During summer, a scheduled boat service regularly connects the village of Monterosso with Vernazza, Riomaggiore and Portovenere, La Spezia. Tourist boats also leave from Monterosso to Portofino and other places.
